Photo Essay Fall 2016: Murals and Public Art

Chicago's sidewalks are chock full of distracted pedestrians and her streets are clogged with cars zipping around the city. Murals and public art, however, are the motionless complement to the busy millions of people residing within Chicago. I photographed various murals and public art exhibits around Hyde Park - specifically, near the viaducts on 51st, 53rd, and 55th street.

A lone passerby walks towards the end of the viaduct.

One of the murals wraps around the tunnel, providing a colorful background to the otherwise dreary and dark alleyway.

"Every useless art like spoiled meats..."
